In late March of this year, I posted a diary entitled: "Concern Re: McCain's Brain," and caught all sorts of flack for referencing a February 22nd, 2008 diary post from Firedoglake by Kirk James Murphy, M.D., entitled: "McCain's Brain--How's It Doin'?"
At the time, I was lectured by many of my fellow bloggers and admonished about how politically incorrect it was to point out that a real, live doctor actually had the temerity to suggest that maybe--just maybe--at 72 years of age (which McCain will be around the time Obama's inauguration rolls around), and after many years of existence in inhumane conditions while a P.O.W. in North Vietnam, that the guy might just have worn out a few of the cards within the original set of 52 he was supposedly given at birth.
(Checkout the comments to my diary from late March. It's interesting to note how the conversation's changed quite a bit since then, at least as far as this topic's concerned. Somewhat of a study in the short-term evolution of "a message," as it were, IMHO. Sorry; I digress.)
In his diary, Dr. Murphy ventures into significant technical detail offering up substantial professional speculation concerning McCain's age-related issues and putting forth a case that there is a fairly high likelihood that the septogenarian Senator's brain function may be further adversely affected by an undiagnosed case of PTSD.
Now, here we are four months later, and there are multiple diaries on just about every Democratic blog in the blogosphere, as I write this, all with the same meme: Perhaps the guy's not all there?
Gee, what a surprise!
So, what's the deal? Is it now politically correct for a Democrat to put forth the notion that McSame's over the hill, and every moment's a potential "senior moment;" but when it comes to there possibly/probably/most likely being some major synapse issues under the guy's scalp due to severe trauma while a P.O.W., that's taboo?
I'm not sure I'm getting this? Either way, I don't want someone's hands on the "Defcon 1" button at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue if the lights are on and the whole family's not home.
I'm just sayin'...
What are your thoughts?
